Overview
Skyburner Dragon Lord is the strongest custom boss in BossRush Mod. It hovers in the air and possesses 7 attack skills with a two-phase combat system. Defeating it yields the mod's top-tier equipment, including the Dragon King Set, Cloud Rider totem, Reverse Scale, and Skyburner Halberd.
Base Stats
- HP: 800
- Damage Multiplier: 0.3x
- Contact Damage: 15 (1.5m range, 0.5s cooldown)
- Hover Height: 3-5m (above the player)
- Follow Speed: 8 units/sec
- Fire Immune: Fire damage not only deals no damage, it actually heals the boss
Attack Skills
Continuous Fire
Constantly fires straight projectiles from its chest — no magazine, no reload, no pauses.
- Phase 1: 1 shot per 0.1s, ±2m offset toward the target
- Phase 2: 2 shots per 0.1s, ±4m offset
- 15 damage, 10% crit rate, 1.5x crit multiplier
Prismatic Bolt
Fires 8 homing bolts at the player. Bolts track for 2.5 seconds then fly straight, 15 damage per bolt.
Spiral Prismatic Bolt (Phase 2)
Rapidly fires prismatic bolts in a spiral pattern, one bolt per 0.1 seconds for 1 second, angle increments by 15°, tracks for 2 seconds.
Charge
- 0.8 second windup then high-speed charge at the player (speed 25)
- Warning ring appears on the ground during the last 0.3 seconds of windup — move sideways immediately
- 30 damage on hit, leaves a magma trail (5 damage per 0.5s, 1m radius, lasts 3s)
- Phase 2 charges twice in succession — the second windup is only 0.3 seconds, don't think you're safe after dodging the first one
Solar Dance
- 1.5 second ground warning appears 2-3m near the player
- Dragon Lord teleports to the marked position, releasing rotating beams and a 24-direction barrage
- Lasts 5 seconds, 10 damage per 0.2 seconds
Rainbow Ring
- Releases 13 orbs spiraling outward to 10m then contracting
- Trail deals 5 damage, lasts 8 seconds
Phantom Spear
- Phase 1: 3 waves of 10 spears each, with warning lines (about 1s), then fire in both directions, 25 damage each at speed 40
- Phase 2 upgrade: 4 waves of 16 spears each, wider coverage, 0.5s warning then one-sided fire
Combat Phases
Phase 1 (100% ~ 50% HP)
- Attack interval: 1.0 second
- Skill rotation: Prismatic Bolt → Charge → Solar Dance → Charge → Rainbow Ring → Prismatic Bolt → Charge → Phantom Spear → Charge → Rainbow Ring → Loop
Phase 2 (Below 50% HP)
- Attack interval reduced to 0.5 seconds, all skills upgraded
- Skill rotation: Phantom Spear Barrage → Prismatic Bolt → Charge → Rainbow Ring → Prismatic Bolt → Solar Dance → Phantom Spear → Charge → Spiral Prismatic Bolt → Loop
- On phase transition, the Dragon Lord teleports above the player and displays a frenzy alert
Special Mechanic: "Protect me, my child!"
When the Skyburner Dragon Lord's HP drops to 1, it does not die immediately. Instead it ascends to 5m and calls out: "Protect me, my child!"
- The Dragon Lord becomes invulnerable and stops its normal attacks, but still fires a Prismatic Bolt every 3 seconds
- Summons a half-stat Dragon Descendant (max HP, gun damage, and melee damage each ×0.5)
- The Skyburner Dragon Lord only truly dies after the Dragon Descendant is killed — there's no point attacking the invulnerable body
Drops
On kill, one item is chosen via weighted random from these six (not six independent rolls):
- Reverse Scale (Totem): 39% drop rate
- Cloud Rider (Totem): 15% drop rate
- Dragon King Crown (Helmet): 15% drop rate
- Dragon King Scale Armor (Armor): 15% drop rate
- Skyburner Halberd (Melee): 15% drop rate
- Dragon Cannon (Firearm): 1% drop rate
What every Boss drops on top of that (parallel, never displacing each other)
- A regular loot crate - the Dragon Lord's is larger than a normal Boss's
- Relic souls - guaranteed, scaled to max health, and the Dragon Lord is tanky enough to pay well
- A relic egg (Dragon Lord bloodline) - about 4%; where it lands depends on the mode (the loot crate in the arena - see Rewards & Loot)
- An Affix Forge Stone - about 8%, landing the same way
- A Skyburner Ember Seed - about 25%, requires Duck King Campaign chapter 1 to unlock the garden. Grows Emberheart Chili: +8% move speed and +10% reload speed for your next run
Combat Strategy
- The Skyburner Dragon Lord hovers in the air — melee weapons can barely reach it, prioritize firearms
- The charge warning ring only appears in the last 0.3 seconds — move sideways immediately, don't get greedy with shots
- Phase 2 charges have a second pass: don't stop to attack after dodging the first charge
- When Prismatic Bolts appear, run in a wide arc — don't lead tracking bolts back toward your cover
- Solar Dance and Phantom Spears both have warnings: find safe ground first, deal damage only after the attack commits
- Rainbow Ring expands then contracts — run outward during expansion, move inward during contraction
- Phase 2 doubles the attack frequency; constant movement is essential
- "Protect me, my child!" phase: prioritize killing the Dragon Descendant while dodging the Dragon Lord's Prismatic Bolts
- Wearing Dragon Set or Dragon King Set makes you immune to fire damage and heals you, significantly reducing difficulty
- Pure melee is unreliable against a target hovering 3-5m — bring at least one ranged weapon
- For no-damage kills, use the Boss Filter to clear other bosses and face the Dragon Lord alone
Spawn Limits
- Standard BossRush: excluded from the first 20 waves
- Faction War: Does not appear
- Blood Hunt: Does not appear
