What Is It?

Fate Echo is a nine-wave challenge that remembers how you fight. Bring your own weapons and supplies into the arena. The run samples your range, ammo, and damage style, then turns those habits into the next questions. You can brute-force the counter, or change your approach and convert the break into Resolve.

The nine waves form three acts. Waves 3, 6, and 9 feature your Nemesis. Losing a run can create a persistent Nemesis, so the next attempt is a rematch rather than a clean reset.

Entry

  • BossRush Ticket
  • Fate Echo Relic (sold by the base merchant)
  • Your current weapons, armor, ammo, consumables, and other equipment stay with you
  • No Banner or Bloodhunt Transponder (those take priority for Faction War / Blood Hunt)
  • After map selection, the Fate Contract confirmation page opens once the scene is ready; entry items are consumed only after confirmation

Canceling the confirmation costs nothing. A wave-9 victory returns one Relic. Death, defeat, and an aborted run grant no normal reward.

Nine Waves, Three Acts

The fixed Boss count is 1 / 2 / 1 Nemesis / 1 / 3 / 1 Nemesis / 1 / 3 / 1 Nemesis:

  • Act I (waves 1-3) — Build your combat profile, then meet the first Nemesis
  • Act II (waves 4-6) — Stronger counters, one three-Boss wave, and the second Nemesis wave
  • Act III (waves 7-9) — Final counters, one three-Boss wave, and the R3 end-of-run Nemesis

Normal intermissions last 8 seconds. Intermissions after waves 3 and 6 last 20 seconds. The wave plan is frozen at run start and does not change mid-run.

Three Counter Axes

The axis schedule repeats across the run:

  • Distance Echo (waves 2, 5, 8) — Uses the previous learning wave's credible terminal distance. Sustained close-range play gives Bosses melee and health adaptations; sustained long-range play gives them movement and firing-speed adaptations. Change range and deal meaningful damage from the new range to break the counter and earn Resolve.
  • Ammo Mark (waves 3, 6, 9) — Samples the previous wave and names one high-threat ammo type. The ammo remains usable, but violations invalidate the wave's break condition. Only shots that actually land on enemies are judged: idle fire between waves, shots taken the instant an enemy spawns, and other unreliable samples are never counted as violations.
  • Attribute Lock (waves 4, 7) — Identifies whether guns or melee carried the previous wave, then reduces that side's damage efficiency (about ×0.75). Switch damage style or rebuild your output pattern to break the lock.

The HUD shows the act, wave, this wave's single counter target, verifiable dual-threshold progress, Resolve, and your chosen contract. During intermission the HUD previews the next wave's counter (range direction / marked ammo / the family about to be locked), and a banner confirms it when the wave begins, so you have time to adapt.

Last Stand

Last Stand occurs only on multi-Boss waves (2, 5, and 8): once that wave's committed Bosses are killed down to the last one, Last Stand begins:

  • 12-second countdown
  • A scoreable direct gun or melee kill during the countdown grants 1 Resolve
  • Environmental, Buff, or unclassified final blows still clear the wave, but do not grant this Resolve
  • If the timer expires, the surviving Boss receives a revenge boost: healing, movement speed, and gun/melee damage

Single-Boss waves (1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9) never trigger Last Stand, so a run offers at most 3 executions — matching the Last Stand cap of 3 Resolve.

It is a deliberate risk choice on multi-Boss waves: secure the wave, or stay exposed for a better Resolve total.

Nemesis

The Nemesis appears on waves 3, 6, and 9. The same Boss returns during the run and escalates:

  • R1 — Increased health
  • R2 — Increased health and movement speed
  • R3 — Further health, movement-speed, and gun/melee damage increases

When a run ends in defeat, the Boss responsible may become your next Nemesis. A successful rematch advances the Nemesis record and revenge progress. If a persistent record is temporarily unavailable, the run uses a substitute without overwriting the original record.

Fate Contracts

The confirmation page deterministically offers two contracts from a pool of eight; choose one. Contracts belong to four families:

  • Adaptation — Break the distance, ammo, and attribute axes
  • Execution — Turn Last Stand windows into finishing blows
  • Tempo — Chain breaks or maintain Resolve across all three acts
  • Style — Complete targets built around distance echoes, ammo bans, and attribute locks

Contracts are extra objectives, not direct stat multipliers. Completed contracts record seals and contract streaks for future runs.

Resolve and Rewards

Resolve caps at 11 and comes from axis breaks and Last Stand executions:

ResolveWave-9 victory reward
0-26 items
3-57 items
6-88 items
99 items
10-1110 items

Rewards are paid only after wave 9 victory. Candidates come from the existing Boss loot pool, restricted to Q5-Q8, and are selected by price bands. The Relic is returned first, then normal rewards are delivered item by item; a full backpack falls back to storage buffering and a scene drop.

Arena Services

Fate Echo uses the shared arena NPCs:

Win / Lose

  • Win — Defeat the final Nemesis on wave 9 and complete victory settlement
  • Lose — Player death, voluntary abort, scene interruption, or a runtime integrity failure

Defeat grants no normal reward, but eligible Nemesis and profile records remain available as a reason to run it back.

Can't finish? You can abandon the run

Press K in-run (default; rebindable in the Mod settings) to open the abandon confirmation page.

  • Two buttons: Keep Fighting and Abandon Run.
  • Before you confirm, the page spells out the price: this run's progress is voided, the ticket and relic you spent are not refunded, and your contract win streak resets.
  • Confirming counts as a loss settlement - your Nemesis is still preserved, so next run still has someone to hunt.

The point of this exit is simple: Fate Echo is a nine-wave commitment, and grinding to death against a counter you can't break is not worth the time. Bowing out costs you less than being worn down for another ten minutes.

Abandoning does not refund the ticket or the Fate Echo Relic. The relic costs 20,000 from the vending machine, so don't treat abandoning as a quick "reroll".

Practical Advice

  • Bring a second plan: guns, melee, and different ammo types can all become the next answer
  • After waves 1, 4, and 7, watch for the distance read and prepare the opposite range
  • Use waves 2, 5, and 8 to establish enough valid ammo samples; do not spray random ammo until the learning window is over
  • When an ammo mark is published, read the HUD before deciding whether to swap ammo, swap weapons, or go melee
  • Last Stand is optional and only appears on waves 2, 5, and 8. Secure the wave first, then gamble for Resolve and contract progress
  • Bring a backup answer for the Nemesis temperament in rematches; an R3 Nemesis is not the same fight as its first appearance

Fate Echo is not about finding one permanently correct build. It is about keeping a second and third way to fight ready. The more you rely on one habit, the easier the next wave can counter it.
