What Is It?

A totem-slot charge-up item — the more hits you take, the harder your next strike. Each hit you receive builds a lightning charge. At 5 charges, your next hit releases a 40 lightning-damage burst. High-risk, high-reward.

  • Type: Totem / Quality: 5
  • Drop: 20% from Triple-Shot Man (works on vanilla maps too) / Dingdang's Shop (Affinity 5, stock 1)
  • Won't drop on death

Thunder Charge (Passive)

Charging:

  • Each hit taken adds 1 charge (max 5)
  • 0.3s cooldown between charge gains (rapid-fire hits won't instant-fill it)
  • If you take no hits for 8 seconds, all charges are lost

Releasing:

  • At 5 charges, your next hit deals +40 lightning damage and clears all charges
  • Any weapon works — gunfire consumes the full charge and triggers the release just like melee does
  • Charging immediately restarts after release

What It Looks Like

At full charge the release arcs lightning from your chest to the target, bursting into a golden flash at the impact point with a short, heavy discharge. No arc means the stacks were not full, or the 8-second timeout already cleared them.

Tips

  • Fundamentally a "take damage to deal damage" design — rewards aggressive, face-to-face combat
  • Against slow stationary bosses you reliably build to 5 and repeatedly release
  • Useless in low-density phases where enemies aren't hitting you
  • Totem slot — doesn't replace your melee weapon, stacks on top of it
  • Best combined with high-burst weapons (e.g. Skyburner Halberd) so the release fires on a strong combo hit

Don't hoard the 5th charge — the burst is always 40 damage flat. Release it and start charging again; total output is higher if you cycle faster.
