From BossRush Wiki

Your First Run

  1. Buy a BossRush Ticket from the base merchant
  2. Grab the free Achievement Medal + buy the Adventurer's Journal
  3. Pick the DEMO Ultimate Challenge map (default, easiest)
  4. Choose Easy difficulty (1 Boss/wave)
  5. Beat everything, grab the reward crate, extract

You just unlocked "First Steps" and "Easy" achievements. Nice.

Next: Spend 5000 on Foundations

Once the first payout lands, buy and build these three. They're cheap, and they all keep producing - the earlier you set them up, the more they've earned by the time you need them.

SpendCostWhat it buys you
Duck King Codex4000Logs every Boss you kill. The first entry alone returns 50,000 in achievement cash
Mailbox500A daily paper with a bounty and a check-in wall that pays high-quality prizes as it fills
Campaign Board500Takes the six Duck King Campaign contracts. Chapter 1 pays 20,000

The Codex pays for itself ten times over on the first square you light. And it has actually been logging since the day you installed the Mod - buying the book just lets you open it.

Then: Take Chapter 1

The board's Chapter 1, "Echoes of the Ring" is practically written for your second run:

  • Clear one standard BossRush run
  • Take zero damage through wave 2

That's 20,000, and it unlocks the base garden - after which the three custom Bosses start dropping seeds you can grow into "raid meals" that buff the start of your next run.

Each later chapter unlocks something else: chapter 2 opens the trophy showcase, chapter 3 the jukebox tracks.

Meet the NPCs

  • Find Dingdang and Yuori on normal maps
  • Chat + gift daily → build Affinity
  • Dingdang Lv.2 = shop (Affix Forge Stones stocked here) / Lv.4 = Cold Quench Fluid → start reforging
  • Dingdang also runs affix forging: reforging changes numbers, affixes change behavior (kill explosions, lifesteal on hit, armor thorns)

Custom Bosses

  • Fight the Dragon Descendant → learn its two-phase trick
  • Get the Dragon Set (Crimson Helm + Flame Scale Armor) → fire immunity + dash
  • That set will carry you a long way

Worth knowing: relic souls have been banking since your very first Boss kill. Save 240 in one bloodline and the PetNest lets you condense that Boss's egg on demand - the cub that hatches fights alongside you.

Gear Progression

Basic gear → Dragon Set + Dragon BreathDragon King Set + Halberd + TotemsReforge with Cold Quench Fluid → Affix Forging to turn well-statted gear into gear that actually does something

Other Modes

By the official difficulty rating, lowest first:

  • From Scratch ★★★ — Naked + Ticket. Random start, grow from zero
  • Faction War ★★★ — Naked + Banner. Multi-faction chaos
  • Black Market Duck Cup ★★★ — just a Ticket. You never fight; two signed fighters do it for you, so you never take a hit. The difficulty isn't in the aiming, it's in the decisions you make before the bell
  • Infinite Hell ★★★★ — unlimited waves, find your ceiling
  • Zombie Mode ★★★★ — Horde Invitation to enter. Naked against an endless horde, running its own Purification Point economy. It shares nothing with the modes above, and Duck King Campaign chapter 5 sends you here
  • Fate Echo ★★★★★ — Current gear + Ticket + Relic. Bosses counter whatever you did last wave
  • Blood Hunt ★★★★★ — Naked + Ticket + Transponder. The hardest challenge

The Duck Cup may be relaxed to play, but it is the only place in the Mod that lets you stake real items from your stash, and a loss confiscates them permanently. Staking is entirely optional and you can play a full season without touching it - new players should stake nothing.

Economy

  • Early: sell items from reward crates
  • Early-mid: Codex milestones (1/10/20 entries pay 50k / 150k / 400k) and daily bounties. Neither costs you extra time - you earn them on the way
  • Mid: chase achievements. All 45 together are worth nearly 20 million
  • Late: Infinite Hell cash pool + milestone rewards; the six campaign chapters total 480,000
  • Always: Affinity discounts cut reforge, affix and healing costs

Hotkeys

  • L — Achievement panel (configurable)
  • K — Abandon a Fate Echo run (configurable)
  • Ctrl+F10 — Boss Filter
