Now obtainable: the "???" boss drops it on vanilla maps and in BossRush runs alike, or buy it from Dingdang's Shop at affinity level 6 (limited stock). Dingdang's line changed too: "Upper management cleared them."

What Is It?

A 2-piece ice set composed of the Frost Crown helmet and Ice Armor body armor. Each piece gives modest armor plus cold protection on its own; equipping both activates Frost Ward — ice damage heals you, kills unleash a frost nova, and you freeze attackers — with pale-blue breathing eyes and frost mist at your feet. An endgame set on par with the Dragon King set.

Set Pieces

  • Frost Crown (helmet): quality 6, Head Armor +5, Cold Protection +1, item ID 500053
  • Ice Armor (body armor): quality 6, Body Armor +5, Cold Protection +1, item ID 500054
  • Durability: 999 (effectively permanent)
  • On death: like the Dragon King set, these drop with the rest of your gear (they are not bound) — bring them knowing you can lose them
  • Repairable at the workbench (durability 999, so wear is slow)

How to Get It

  • "???" boss drop: killing "???" rolls once for the set: Frost Crown 20%, Ice Armor 20%, 60% nothing. It also has its separate 50% Frostmourne drop — the two never interfere. Vanilla raids count too — you don't need a BossRush run. Inside the arena it lands in the mod reward crate; in Infinite Hell it drops on the ground.
  • Dingdang's Shop: both pieces at affinity level 6, 1 in stock each (restocks every time the shop opens), 30000 per piece.
  • Never in any random pool (Wish Fountain, daily sign-in, ordinary boss crates) — these two routes are the only ones.

2-Piece Effect: Frost Ward

Activates when both pieces are equipped (screen notification appears). Your eyes glow pale blue and a ring of frost mist follows your feet.

Passive:

  • Ice damage resistance +50%
  • 50% of the ice damage you take is refunded as healing (next frame, green numbers)
  • Cold Protection +2 in total

Frost Nova (on kill):

  • When you personally kill an enemy, a 4.5 m frost burst erupts at the corpse: up to 6 enemies inside take 20 ice damage and are frozen
  • Maximum once every 1.5 seconds; enemies killed by the nova itself do not start another nova (no chaining)
  • Only direct weapon/grenade kills count (DoTs and the set's own damage don't trigger it)

Freeze Counter (on hit):

  • When struck by an attacker within 5 meters, 30% chance to freeze that attacker
  • Maximum once every 5 seconds
  • Triggers regardless of attack direction — any hit from close range qualifies
  • Uses the set's own freeze effect first; falls back to vanilla Cold, then to a temporary slow, if the asset is missing

Tips

  • Frost Nova is crowd control: drop one enemy, the whole ring around it freezes, then pick them off — perfect for melee brawls and holding a point
  • Ice refund is especially strong against freezing special zombies and ice bosses
  • 30% freeze proc fires frequently in melee brawls; the 5 s cooldown is permissive compared to most reactive pieces
  • Base armor (Head +5 / Body +5) is low — not meant for pure tank builds; the set lives on control

Counter-freeze is strongest against melee-chasing bosses (Hunter, Dragon King). Freeze them after they gap-close, then punish during the stun window.
